Brunswick County Hosts Community Flu Vaccine Clinics Starting October 2026

PUBLIC NOTICE

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Brunswick County Health Services is offering a walk-in influenza (flu) vaccine clinic in Bolivia, as well as three pop-up clinics throughout the county, for community members ages 6 months and older starting in October. Appointments are not required.

Annual flu vaccinations (often called flu shots) are recommended for everyone six months of age and older. Children younger than five years, adults 65 years and older, pregnant women, and people with underlying medical conditions are all at an increased risk of severe illness or complications from the flu.

The CDC recommends everyone ages 6 months and older get a flu vaccine by the end of October. Flu viruses typically spread in fall and winter, with activity peaking between December and February. Flu vaccination can lower the chances of getting the flu, reduce the severity of illness, and reduce the risk of flu-related hospitalizations.

You will need to bring a copy of your photo ID and insurance cards. Regular flu vaccines are available at no cost to individuals without medical insurance. If you are unsure about your insurance, call 910.253.2250 for assistance.

Brunswick County Health Services is offering the following flu vaccines at the clinics:

  • Regular flu vaccines (eligible for everyone ages 6 months and up)
  • High-Dose flu vaccines (recommended for everyone ages 65 years and up)

Minors under 18 years of age must be accompanied by their parent and/or legal guardian to receive a flu vaccine.
